Privacy Policy
How ChordGenAI handles your data. Plain English.
Last updated: 26 April 2026
Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains what information ChordGenAI collects when you use our website and chord-analysis service, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to the website at chordgenai.io and all associated subdomains. By using ChordGenAI you agree to the practices described here.
What we collect
We collect only what is needed to operate the service. This falls into a few categories:
- Account information you provide directly: email address, password (hashed), and any profile details you optionally add.
- Audio you submit for analysis (uploaded files or YouTube URLs) and the chord charts produced from them.
- Usage information: which pages you visit, which features you use, basic device and browser metadata, and crash reports.
- Billing information handled by our payment processor — we never see or store full card numbers.
How we use it
We use the data we collect to run the service, charge for paid plans, support you when something goes wrong, and improve product quality. Specifically:
- Authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- Run the chord-analysis pipeline on the audio you submit and return the resulting chart.
- Maintain your analysis history so you can find prior results.
- Respond to support requests sent to support@chordgenai.io.
- Aggregate, anonymised diagnostics to find bugs and improve accuracy. We do not sell your data.
Audio file handling
Audio you upload, or that we extract from a YouTube link you provide, is processed on dedicated infrastructure for the sole purpose of producing your chord chart. Once the analysis is complete the source audio is discarded — we keep the resulting chart and metadata (key, BPM, confidence, your session notes) in your history, but the underlying audio file is not retained.
You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to submit any audio you analyse. ChordGenAI does not redistribute, publish, or share your uploaded audio with anyone.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember basic preferences, and measure aggregate usage. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the service that require sign-in will not work without them.
Third parties
We rely on a small set of trusted vendors to deliver the service. They process data only on our instructions:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage for accounts and analysis history.
- Stripe — payment processing for paid plans and lifetime purchases.
- Sentry — error and crash diagnostics so we can fix bugs that affect you.
Each of these providers has their own privacy and security commitments. We review them before integrating and limit the data shared to what each one needs to function.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it, export it, or ask us to delete it. You can exercise any of these rights at any time by emailing support@chordgenai.io from the address on your account. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe and at no charge for routine requests.
Data retention
We keep account information and your analysis history for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data and analysis history within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain records (for example, billing records for tax purposes). Anonymised, aggregated statistics may be retained beyond that.
